Davud Team

The Davud Team provides job training, skills and mentoring for women and widows who are oppressed and/or rescued from trafficking. The empower the vulnerable to be part of a freedom business so they can provide for themselves and their families.

The David Team has a long history of being trusted and working in this region. To have the earthquake hit on top of the poverty and waves of refugees from Syria adds to the needs that must be faced. Getting funds into the hands of those who are right there and can deliver is crucial.

There are also reports of children be targeted for trafficking amongst those who have suffered though the Earthquakes. Most buildings are still unstable and untrustworthy. The majority in this area remain homeless.

The Davut team is constantly reaching out to neighborhood families and Children living in tents. They are giving out desperately needed items and hosting uplifting outreaches to traumatized children.

Every precious child is that One person fully worthy of all our love.

Funda doesn’t notice the tears on her cheeks, “I was widowed in Syria and left to care for five daughters. I went to live with my parents, but the war came there too. Finally I was forced to marry my husband’s brother because of the poverty and so my daughters can be protected. He decided we should flee the country, but when we got here he divorced me because I am older than him and also my health is not the best. So I have tried to find work to protect my daughters, but who gives work to a woman?”

Funda is not the only one in the room. The Davud Team listen patiently. Fatma speaks up, “My husband died in the war, and I have these three little boys. My parents told me to join a team leaving the country, to protect ourselves. When I got here, I called them, but no one answered. Many months later I learned that the family home had been bombed. I lost everyone. I tried to work in this one place. The man there think that because I am a woman alone he can rape me. When I fight him he stabbed me. I have many marks on my body. I escaped, but when I got home I was so afraid I thought the best thing is that I kill myself and the children. That day your team called me. I don’t know how they knew, except God told them! They told me God cared and that I should trust Jesus. I do now. And the Word of God is true. I give Him every prayer and petition with thanksgiving, even when it is hard.”

The Davud Team have been meeting refugees as they cross the border and seek help in this border town for eight years now. It would seem that the stream would stop, but there are many political reasons why regional countries refuse to stop bombing and killing in this area. This team have a gift for listening, loving practically, and helping widows and orphans take the next step towards hope and healing. Most of the people they meet move from crisis to hope. This is a crucial step towards their healing, and the hope of providing a sustainable solution to these otherwise hopeless families.

The Davud Team keep the Light of Jesus burning in a dark border town. Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting them to do this!

Cross Cultural Connections does not like to leave an Impact Team without an option to EMPOWER them to solve the problem. Helping these widows learn a trade or make something in a cottage industry setting is the best way to help them to provide for their children. This prevents the trafficking of widows and/or orphans.

To do this we have a teacher who is herself a persecuted Christian, a widow and a gifted counselor. She is fluent in four languages, and skilled at teaching women. She is the one who is available to train these women and make sure they receive what they need to flourish.

This means that YOU could invest in the Davud Team and EMPOWER this widow who teaches these widows to create high quality, marketable items. To do this, we need partners. This can be monthly, or upfront, you choose. Women with daughters are the most vulnerable population in this region. Men want to buy the little girls for “wives”, and use them as sex slaves. Help us fight this!
